All the other faculties (Arts, Science, Mathematics etc.) on DISQO focus on acquiring knowledge in their particular subject fields. Of course in the process of learning that knowledge, good lessons and courses will also develop a student's reasoning, learning, memory and other processes of the brain. The more we use it, the more powerful it will become. However, Brain Games' subjects focus on directly improving those processes so that in turn our abilities to learn, remember, reason etc will improve.
We are a broad community so don't subscribe solely to any one theory of intelligence. However, as the mediators of DISQO, we would like to put forward a thought. Research into the "plasticity of the brain" or Neuroplasticity has been popularised in recent years. We believe that this research has tremendous implications for the way we think about education, learning and the brain. In a nutshell, we are not stuck with the brain (or the intelligence) we were born with. Work on it and we can make it harder, better, faster, stronger.
Our list of subjects below is in no way complete. Please discuss in the forum any alterations you wish to see and if a strong consensus is reached, our structure will be changed accordingly.
